Sensational Sunsets

I saw this the other evening.. as I was helping my husband fix some plumbing issues we were having in our old cabin house I looked out the window and witnessed the sky turning the most beautiful shades of pink purple and blue.. so I did what any photographer would do... grabbed my camera!

Some old pics give me new ideas...

I took these last spring when my dear husband took me on a photography hunt driving up towards Big Lake, AZ.

I absolutely love the BLUE in this picture!

This picture frustrated me, I'm sure any photographer would feel it too.. This was a great shot of the flag, it was whipping and waving around in the wind.... that is until I got my camera ready to shoot. Then the wind died, sigh.

My beautiful daughters being such good sports for the camera and having fun at the creek in their fairy outfits!

Sunset behind our old house, just setting over the mountain.

A fellow photographer and I went hunting for some good shots up by Hannigan Meadow, AZ.

In June, Daniel and I took the girls up to the catwalk in Glenwood, NM...we had a blast! This is of them looking over the bridge to the creek below.

Not far from where we live, this is Dillman Creek...I pass this every day going from home to work and its a beautiful site.

The girls standing up on the hillside, its one of my favorite shots of them.

Savanna and her precious little feet cooling off in the creek water.

A shot I took at Head of the Ditch campground in Luna, NM

A precious little sport of mine, Victoria holding some flower buds in her hands.

A small waterfall in a neat little meadow we found.

A mossy log, I really like how this shot turned out.

Pine-cones!

A red chair after the rain.

I took these shots when I was just starting out with me new D-SLR camera. And they weren't great shots, but they were good shots, and good shots turn into great shots with some practice and cooperative subjects.. its encouraging me to get out there and make some great shots.

Get Serious!

"Enjoy yourself, its later than you think." -Socrates

I've always had a heart and passion and yes, even an eye for photography. But I'd let silly excuses get in the way, I don't have a nice camera, I don't have the time, I'm really not all that good. So for mother's day 2010 my wonderful husband presented me with my first D-SLR camera, a Song A230 with all the gadgets and the simple instructions of "Get good, just not on me."

Since May of 2010 I've been lazy at it. Just taking landscape pictures for the most part, pictures of the kids, family events, etc. Really, I just wasn't putting my new skills or my new camera to work or doing it any justice. After a few months of sitting there collecting dust, I finally realized that while sitting I wasn't getting anywhere in the photography business. It is something I enjoy doing and I wasn't enjoying it, day after day my life was going by and pictures weren't being taken.

In September 2010 opportunity knocked on my door and I answered. My friend's baby was turning one year old on 9/29 and I asked if I could do a photo shoot, free of charge I just want to get experience. She agreed of course and her and her three little girls came along, I had such a blast and she was over the moon happy with how they turned out! Not a day later a local web developer came to me and said he saw my pictures and wanted to know if he could use some of my pictures for a website for a clinic they're building. Of course I said yes! Shortly after that I received an email asking for a senior picture shoot.

I'm feeling a tad bit timid about it all but excited as well! So I'm getting out there, and gettin' 'er done! Photography world, here I come!
